I wanted to share an email from the Nerstrand Fire Department.  There is a new Fire Station in Dennison which might impact some insurance rates in the Township.  HERE is the link to the official letter concerning the Public Protection Classification.

Greetings:

In December we shared information with you regarding the opening of our station in Dennison and its possible impact on insurance rates for property owners in the area. Part of the process to improve rates was a review by the Insurance Services Office of our department, communications system, and water supply. I am happy to share after review our ISO score has improved from a 7/7x to a 5/5x effective July 1, 2023. This score means that properties within 1000ft of a hydrant receive a score of 5. Properties over 1000ft from a hydrant but within 5 miles of our Nerstrand or Dennison stations receive a score of 5x. Locations over 5 miles from a fire station receive a score of 10.

This is a large improvement for our department and puts us on the same level as many larger departments. We are proud of all the work completed to make this improvement and meet our vision to be known as an innovative and progressive rural fire and rescue service. We will utilize the latest review to continue improving our department and meet the needs of the communities we serve.
Respectfully,
Joe Johnson
